About TCkids

What is the TCkids program?

TCkids is a one-week half-day summer camp for elementary aged students. Students are taught skills related to musical theatre and also learn tools to help build confidence, work with others, speak in front of large groups of people and learn to appreciate all aspects of theatre arts.

Recommended age: 7-10

TCkids is recommended for 1st-grade through 5th-grade students.

About the 2025 TCkids Camp

The Show: Disney’s Finding Nemo, Kids

Disney’s Finding Nemo Kids is a 30-minute musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo, with new music by award-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid, Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as Dory, Crush and the Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey. Theatre Charlotte’s education programs exist to provide young people with high-quality theatre experiences led by theatre professionals committed to fulfilling Theatre Charlotte’s mission, vision, and core values.

In addition to creating programs in line with Theatre Charlotte’s core values, our education programs exist to:

  • Provide a safe place where youth can freely create and be themselves. A place that is inclusive and free from bias and discrimination.

  • Highlight the human experience through theatre. We believe that the arts are essential and an indispensable part of the human experience.

  • Learn from each other. Everyone we work with knows something we don’t.  We ask questions to further our understanding. The more we share, the better outcome for us all.

  • Lift up one another. People need to be cared for and supported in order to do their best work. Everyone we encounter through our programs is worthy of being treated with respect and dignity.

  • Grow and change. We believe that the current way of doing things can be reimagined and improved. We can grow not just as artists, but as human beings. We can make a difference, especially when given the space to take creative risks.
