TC SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAMS
It’s a Theatre Charlotte Summer!
Join us this summer for fantastic theatre education opportunities for students in elementary school through college! With three programs plus apprentice positions, we have something for every musical theatre student!
Student Theatre Guild
Theatre Charlotte's Student Theatre Guild provides an outstanding theatre opportunity to high school and college students selected through an audition process.
The summer intensive provides a professional-level summer stock experience.
TCjr
TCjr participants, age 9-14, work with professional directors, choreographers, designers, technicians and performers experiencing and creating musical theatre.
During this two-week program, participants gain valuable knowledge and experience while rehearsing and performing a musical production to be presented on the TC stage.
TCkids
Theatre Charlotte is thrilled to announce the addition of the TCkids program. This one-week half-day performance camp for elementary aged students is a great way to start learning about musical theatre.
There is no audition required for TCkids. Registration is limited to 25 students per session and spaces will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
Summer Apprentices
Students age 18 and up may apply for a summer apprenticeship with Theatre Charlotte. Up to five apprentices and one production stage manager will be selected to work alongside industry professionals in supporting the TCjr and STG summer intensive productions. Available apprenticeships include Performance, Choreography/Movement, Music, Technical Theatre, Administration, and Stage Management.
Applications are accepted until March 15th.
Theatre Charlotte’s education programs exist to provide young people with high-quality theatre experiences led by theatre professionals committed to fulfilling Theatre Charlotte’s mission, vision, and core values.
In addition to creating programs in line with Theatre Charlotte’s core values, our education programs exist to:
Provide a safe place where youth can freely create and be themselves. A place that is inclusive and free from bias and discrimination.
Highlight the human experience through theatre. We believe that the arts are essential and an indispensable part of the human experience.
Learn from each other. Everyone we work with knows something we don’t. We ask questions to further our understanding. The more we share, the better outcome for us all.
Lift up one another. People need to be cared for and supported in order to do their best work. Everyone we encounter through our programs is worthy of being treated with respect and dignity.
Grow and change. We believe that the current way of doing things can be reimagined and improved. We can grow not just as artists, but as human beings. We can make a difference, especially when given the space to take creative risks.
