Leapin’ Lizards! One of the world’s best-loved musicals is back!
Annie is a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her
parents, who abandoned her at a NYC orphanage run by the cruel Miss
Hannigan. In one adventure after another, Annie foils Miss
Hannigan’s evil plans, becomes friends with President Franklin
Roosevelt and finds a new family and home with billionaire Oliver
Warbucks, his secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named
Sandy. With its upbeat ending and bright, tuneful score, it’s no
wonder this heartwarming show has become an international sensation.
Recommended for the entire family. See above calendar for show

Auditions

All
the ladies who are “anybody” in Chinquapin, Louisiana have their
hair done at Truvy’s beauty salon. Helped by her new assistant,
Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married), the
wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoo and advice to the town’s rich
curmudgeon, Ouiser; Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and
the local social leader, M’Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby (the
prettiest in town), is about to marry a “good ole boy.” This popular
play, with its eccentric characters and gossipy dialogue, is
hilarious and touching— and in the end, deeply moving.
Recommended for ages 13 and older. See above calendar for show
times.

THE GRADUATE
brings one of the most popular films of all time vividly to life on
the stage. Benjamin Braddock has recently graduated college, with
his parents now expecting great things from him. At his “Homecoming”
party, Mrs. Robinson, the wife of his father’s business partner, has
Ben drive her home, which leads to an affair between the two.
Complications ensue when he finds himself falling for Elaine, Mrs.
Robinson’s daughter. A bittersweet comedy that is rich, textured and
funny.
Recommended for ages 16 and up (mature themes and language). See
above calendar for show times.

Amanda Wingfield is a faded, tragic remnant of Southern gentility
who lives in poverty with her son, Tom, and her daughter, Laura. Tom
is driven to distraction by his mother’s nagging and seeks escape in
alcohol and the make-believe world of movies. Laura is crippled, and
this defect, intensified by her mother’s anxiety to see her married,
has driven her more and more into herself. Tom invites an
acquaintance for dinner with the family. Amanda pounces on the
gentleman caller as a possible husband for Laura. One of the
American theatre’s best plays,
The
Glass Menagerie
is a
drama of great tenderness, charm and beauty.
Recommended for ages 13 and up. See above calendar for show times.

The
1996 Pulitzer-prize winning Broadway musical is based loosely on
Puccini’s opera La Bohème. It follows a year in the lives of seven
friends living the Bohemian lifestyle in New York’s East Village.
AIDS and both its physical and emotional complications pervade the
lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom, Angel, Maureen, Benjamin and Mark. Winner
of the 1996 Tony Award, Rent is credited with bringing a new
generation to musical theatre. The reality of the story and the
quality of the show’s rock tunes are as powerful a combination now
as they were when the show first appeared on Broadway.
Recommended for ages 16 and up (mature themes and language). See
above calendar for show times.

A Christmas Carol
Adapted by John Jakes from the novel by Charles Dickens
Adults $20; Seniors $15; Students (age 12 through college) $10;
Children (11 and under) $7
This
version captures the magic and mystique of the Dickens’ original. At
the opening, Charles Dickens is introduced to the audience, ready to
present a reading of his popular “A Christmas Carol.” As he begins,
the story unfolds on stage around him: the classic tale of the
hard-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge, who
hates Christmas and is visited by the ghost of his late partner,
Jacob Marley. Marley urges scrooge to change his ways. This visit is
followed by the appearances of three other ghosts—the Ghosts of
Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. These
spirits gradually warm old Scrooge’s heart, as well as ours.
